The road less travelled...

So it seems I've gone back to posting about once a month. And only when extraordinary things that are worth reporting have happened.

As indeed they have.

It turns out that the old adage about bad luck coming in threes has reared its ugly head for me.

1) I have the rampaging flu. No idea if this is an official strain, nor (as I was slack this year) if it's covered by the flu shot, but I have just spent three days in bed, alternatively shivering madly and throwing off blankets before I roast. The doctor told me I had a temperature of 39.3 degrees c. Er, yes. And then I did drive home from the appointment. I know, I'm very bad. *slaps wrist*

2) I broke my glasses on Thursday morning. They had lovely arms that had no hinges but just bounced (almost impossible to describe) and one of the arms snapped off at what was obviously a weak point. Bugger.

3) The worst of all - my handbag was stolen from my car on Wednesday evening at the expense of a smashed window which cost $417 to replace. I lost my purse (driver's license, bank cards, university card, library cards, etc., and about $30 in cash), the notes I had been writing for my thesis, and which I had not yet typed up, my umbrella, a lovely pair of gloves, my work pass, and, worst of all, one of my hardback Chalet books. Fortunately it is not one of the particularly difficult to get ones, but it is one I desperately need for my fill-in and so I shall have to buy another copy. However, I'm holding off in the hope that someone will have a better copy than those for sale on abebooks.

*sigh* I might go back to bed now... >:-
