I am indeed still alive and kicking. I felt perhaps I should keep up a sort-of once-a-month posting thing and let you know what I have done for the month of September.

Um...

Well, not much really.

*looks shifty*

In fact my life is really chugging along in a very predictable and tedious manner. I'm still working at Melbourne City Council. My contract expires at the end of next week, so I'm sending out 15+ job applications every week in the hope of getting something else, but it hasn't happened yet. It wouldn't surprise me if, on Thursday, I get asked to stay on for longer. They are hopeless with communication at the council!!!

I was invested as President of my Rotary Club on Wednesday Sep. 20 (which also happened to be Dad's birthday). We've had a few resignations, including the President who was invested in July, and I was asked to step in. It's going to be a difficult nine months until I can hand over to the next President, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.

I have spent obscene amounts on books! I bought four Girls Own Annuals from the 1920s (nos. 37, 39, 42 and 44, all with the decorative spines, for anyone who's interested) for only AU$20 (£8) each. *chuckles evilly* I have also found a copy of Queechy (mentioned in Summer Term), the two Alice books with all the illustrations by Sir John Tenniel, a hard back version of In The High Valley with an immaculate dustwrapper, and a smattering of school and other stories: Mary Todd's Last Term by Frances Greenwood, Breton Adventure and Susan's Helping Hand both by Jane Shaw, The Trials of the Twins by John Winsford, Nutmeg Comes to Westways by Constance M. White (I read and really enjoyed Ponies at Westways), Ella at the Wells by Lorna Hill in near-perfect dustjacket and The Gypsy Children from Christine Pullein-Thompson. I also bought Nat the Naturalist by George Manville Fenn, which book was mentioned in Three Go to the Chalet School. I am now trying to hide from my bankcard.

And honestly I think that's all the news I have for you. I've done almost no writing at all, but hope to make up for that today, as I have nothing else to do but write (oh, and update this, of course). So really that's it, I'm afraid.

Anyone else got any exciting news to share with me?
