A/N: I was rereading Make Me A Match (fantastic story, go and read it!) for the upteenth time and was reminded that the Doctor uses 'Noble' as his surname in his third incarnation. I've made use of that tidbit of information here.

It's actually his old-fashioned courtesy that she appreciates most. He holds doors open for her, waits until she sits down before he takes his seat, pours her drink before his own, and had absolutely won Wilf's heart by asking for the grandfather's permission to marry his precious granddaughter before he brought the subject up with Donna herself.

Now she watches as he finishes a conversation he's having with Sarah Jane Smith and glances around the room, the light flaring in his dark eyes as he meets her gaze telling her that she is the object of his search.

He crosses the room in a few strides and stops in front of her, giving a deep bow from the waist before he offers her his hand. "May I have this dance, Mrs Noble?"

She slides her fingers into his tender clasp with a smile. "Doctor Noble, of course you may!"

And she rests her head on her new husband's shoulder as they sweep across the floor.

Another one that no one reviewed! I absolutely adored this from the first time I read it. It's everything that's gentlemanly (gentlealienly?) about the Tenth Doctor, and it's all for Donna here.

I can't believe that, as big a fanboy as he is, DT didn't insist on some on-show reference to the name thing... We so could've had a moment like in "Make Me a Match," and it would've been brilliant!

Aw, thank you! He is indeed the perfect gentleman, isn't he? And Donna deserves it all.

Yes, I would have loved that, too! But maybe it was felt to be too obscure for most fans...

Except a lot of people didn't seem to realize just how much history Doctor Who has. It might've encouraged a little more exploration of the Doctor's past - and coming to terms with it. Of course, that's my wishful thinking there. ;D

True. I have to admit that I don't think I've ever seen the exact scene where he uses that name, so perhaps it's not something that would work well as a flashback.

And I'm now having a crazy thought. What if 'Mr Donna Noble' was the name River whispered into the Doctor's ear and it was a Time Lord tradition for the man to take his wife's name...?

A flashback would be nice; show more of the past and get the modern fans better acquainted with Old Who. But a decently written moment could get away without it.

Ooh! Plot bunny growing! Darn you! So do you wanna write that? Or should I? Or... Do we want to make it a challenge between us - and anyone else who wants to tackle the idea?

Very true. The only reason I suggested the flashback was to 'prove' to the new fans that it wasn't just a convenient suggestion made by the show's creators in the present.

*lol* I'm sorry! No, okay, I'm not really. ;-)

As for the plot bunny, you take it for now and I might do my own take on it later.
