Summary: The Doctor and Donna go back

“I was a node?”

“Mmm.”

“I was a node! A stinking, horrible node and you didn’t even think to tell me?!”

“That’s your dangerous voice, isn’t it?”

“You know, I think it just might be! Why the Hell didn’t you say anything?”

“Umm… Ow! No slapping! Especially not the face!”

“I was a bloody talking head on a stick and you didn’t bother to tell me!”

“Well, it wasn’t that I didn’t bother exactly. It was just – the right moment didn’t ever quite arrive.”

“Yeah, because you never went looking for it!”

“And how was I meant to bring something like that up anyway? ‘Did you know, Donna, while you were off having imaginary adventures in the computer, your face was up there on a pole, telling me you’d been saved?’ Was that the sort of thing you had in mind?”

“That would have been a darned sight better than me finding out like this!”

“Look, I’m sorry. I didn’t think about that when I agreed with your suggestion that we take this little field trip, all right?”

“Me? It was your idea!”

“Rubbish! All I said was that I wished there was a way to make sure that you never forgot why you chose to come with me. You’re the one who thought a jaunt down memory lane would be a nice thing to do.”

“So this is all my fault, is it?”

“Well, not – is that your dangerous voice again?’

“Not far off it.”

“Then I should maybe shut up now?”

“Might be a good idea.”

“Or change the subject.”

“Considering how talented you are in that area…”

“Fine, um… Are we going outside?”

“Depends where you’ve landed us this time. Are we safe from the Vashta Nerada?”

“As safe as we were before.”

“Good. Come on, then, let’s go.”

“Are you sure you want to see this?”

“Yes! Now come on!”

“You say he's your friend, but he doesn't even know who you are.”

“Listen, all you need to know is this... I'd trust that man to the end of the universe. And actually, we've been.”

“You know something? Suddenly I’m beginning to understand your desire to be here.”

“Mmm.”

“You, Donna Noble, are jealous!”

“Oh, don’t be ridiculous! What do I have to be jealous of?’

“Hmm, that came out a bit quick. Want to try again?”

“What? No! Don’t be daft!”

“You are, though. You’re jealous of the fact that she knew me and that we meet again in the future.”

“Well, according to what she just said, she’s got your sonic screwdriver from a future version of you! How can you explain that?”

“Donna, I don’t know! Not sure if you’ve noticed, but we’re not up to that stage of things yet! I can’t tell you something that hasn’t happened in my personal timeline. She didn’t even recognise me at first, not with this face!”

“Hmph.”

“But I’m going to have to show you something.”

“Are we leaving the Library?”

“Not yet.”

“Where then?”

“You’ll see. Oh, and tapping that button impatiently will only delay our arrival.”

“Fine!”

“If you say ‘are we there yet?’, I’m going to open the doors and push you out.”

“Hah!”

“Was that a smile? I think that was a tiny smile.”

“Of course it wasn’t! I’m…”

“Jealous. But intrigued. Now you now how I feel about Jack and you.”

“Don’t be ridiculous. Nothing happened between us.”

“Exactly. And nothing’s happened between River and me.”

“Yet.”

“What’s the point in being jealous about something that hasn’t even happened yet? You’ll worry yourself into an early regeneration.”

“Fine, what are we here to see? Er, scrap that. Where did she get the handcuffs?”

“Spoilers, apparently.”

“You mean you don’t know.”

“River, you know my name! You whispered my name in my ear. There's only one reason I would ever tell anyone my name. There's only one time I could...”

“She knows your name?!”

“Yes, she does. And, before you kill me, let me tell you my theory as to why…”

Good for you figuring out the right cliffhanger to bring people right to the next part. Sometimes without remembering to review!

You know, that that scene bothered me so much... Makes one feel like he's trapped... Which shows why he seems to believe in destiny. I'm frankly with Donna on that one!

Hee, thank you! And yes, it's strange, isn't it, because usually the Doctor has options, but this does seem to tie him down almost painfully. And it's even worse with their interactions as River and Eleven.
