Apparently it's not a perforated ulcer (drat!) but they actually aren't sure what it is. Thankfully, it's not secondary cancer, but apart from a chest infection, it might be an inflamed bowel... or a blockage of some sort... or something...

By the way, to all Australians, there is plenty of (deserved) bashing of the public health system, but sometimes the private one isn't a whole lot better. Mum was in Emergency for six hours (!!!) waiting for a bed to become available in ICU. Then she had to wait for one to become available in the surgical ward, in case she needed surgery. She ended up in a four-bed ward, with two ladies who had severe infections and were being given antibiotics. This is only a few days after she finished chemotherapy, a side-effect of which is to give the immune system a right bashing! Smart! I kicked up a song and dance about it on Wednesday - and what do you know! Today a single room became available! How about that?!

Oh, and her stomach surgeon is a b*stard who has nurses sacked if he feels like it! Today he came in when Mum was feeling nauseus and demanded to know what she was doing! Um, hello? Who's the doctor? D*ckhead!
