Yes, that's right, any rumours about my demise were extremely premature, if not outright blasphemy. I have been completely snowed under with thesis and the writing of my second book, but of late I have found time for other things. Hopefully this include rather more LJ in the future.
In the meantime, I need some suggestions for your favourite alien planet ever visited on Doctor Who. Oh, and why you liked it so much. This will appear in one of my forthcoming fics, which I hope to have finished and ready to post very soon...

Hope it's all going well with the thesis AND the second book... phew!
I don't really have a favourite planet that they visit (well, it feels a bit wrong to say earth... but that probably IS my favourite) but I think the really intriguing planet is probably the Oodsphere, which I think is intriguing for a range of reasons, but mostly because it remains almost entirely unexplored. All those ones from the sixties and seventies, with a few notable exceptions, included a lot of caves and television studios, I mean caverns, so it was hard to get excited about the planet beyond the characters that they inhabited, and I think they became a focus for me. But there was one... and I haven't seen it since the mid-seventies, but it was... running off to try and find something on youtube... bugger, can't find it. They were hiding behind rocks and looking towards the city. Feel like it was Four... ring any bells??? Sorry, that was as vague as I could get!

(Sadly, I don't know which one you're talking about, so I'm no help myself. Sorry.)

I shall think about the Oodsphere, but I would like to try a different place and I've set several fics there now. Not sure which other planet you mean, but if you find it, let me know.

As for ficcity fic, I'm all for the home of the Aplans (the two-headed creatures that the Doctor should have met in Series 5 if they hadn't been wiped out and replaced by my icon), which is apparently called Alfalva Metraxis.
There's a complete list of the Whovian planets here if you haven't seen them; some of them I recognize, some I don't, but if you went for an old school planet that you weren't familiar with, that could direct you to the right story to research with, blah blah.
I should also point out that I think I have yet to see a good fic about Barcelona, at least that I remember. You could probably remedy that. ;)

Great minds think alike. I have also been thinking about Barcelona, among other places. Still, we shall have to see...

How about planet Feldspoon? What a good name, Feldspoon. Apparently it's got mountains that sway in the breeze. Mountains that move, can you imagine?
;)

Hmm, definitely a thought, although it's the Doctor not going with Donna in this instance. I might wait until she's there too...
