Title: Is A Kiss Just A Kiss?
Author:

Summary: Rose has been thinking about what happened on New Earth.
Word Count: approx 500 words
Characters: Ten, Rose
A/N: Because she did such sterling work at the Support Stacie auction,
catyuy was invited to give me a prompt, which was “Ten/Rose, kiss”.
“Doctor?”
Rose enters the console room to find the Doctor on his hands and knees, peering into the depths of the TARDIS. She can’t help a small smile as she sees him. Clearly some things about the Doctor don’t change, just because his face is different.
He beams at the sight of her and straightens up. “Hello!” he says cheerfully. “All right after today then? I really should have warned you about the disinfectant before we went into the hospital, but…”
“No, it’s fine,” she says quickly to cut him off before he can start on a rambling speech. “I was just thinking – it was weird today.”
He chuckles and slides a hand through his hair. “Very true,” he agrees, leaning against the console, his arms folded over his chest. “But then,” he goes on before she can say anything, “possession is usually a pretty weird experience, especially the first time you go through it. I wouldn’t worry, though, if you can help it. I promise you Cassandra’s gone. Well, you saw what happened. Even died happy, if that’s possible.”
She nods, but the problem is that it isn’t the possession that’s bothering her. She’d felt the instant that Cassandra had left her body each time, the rush of returning consciousness, so she knows it’s just her mind in her body.
No, it’s more what she did while she was possessed that’s worrying her.
When she remembers the way she threw herself at him – or at least that was the impression she knows he must've got – she cringes. After all, just because she’s thought about him in a certain way sometimes doesn’t mean she’d do anything like that.
And then it wasn’t really this him that she’d been thinking about anyway.
That’s the real problem.
If this was the other Doctor, she wouldn’t have had a problem talking about what had happened today. They would have joked about it a bit and that would have been that.
This isn’t him, though, and she isn’t sure how he’d react to her bringing it up. The fact that he hasn’t said anything about it either makes her wonder if he’s waiting for her to say something first, or if he’s already forgotten about it.
She can’t help wondering if the other Doctor would have realised how important it was to her.
“Rose?” There’s concern in the Doctor’s voice, and she realises that he’s been saying something and she wasn’t paying attention.
“Huh?”
“I said, you are okay?”
“Yeah.” She makes herself smile, seeing as the worry disappears from his face, and she understands that he worries about her just as much as the other Doctor ever did. “Yeah,” she repeats more confidently. “I’m fine.”
She promises herself that, one day, when she knows this Doctor better, as well as she knew him before, they’ll talk about it again.

I liked this a great deal. It's still fairly early in Ten and Rose's time together where despite the fact that she's accepted he's the Doctor, he's still not quite 'her' Doctor yet, and as a result, she's still dealing with the changes. Of course she would be wondering what Nine's reaction to what happened with Cassandra would have been and perhaps a part of her would be thinking about what it would have been like if he had been on the other end of that Cassandra possessed kiss (especially since she doesn't remember the Vortex kiss at this point). I also like that she resolves herself to talk about it with Ten when she gets to know him better. I wonder if they ever did?
Lovely as always.

I'm very glad you liked it. You know I haven't written Rose before, so it was nice to have this challenge, and I'm glad it worked in with where Rose is at this point in her time with the Doctor. Does she ever remember the Vortex kiss with Nine? I didn't think she did, but I'm happy to be corrected.
I like to think she brings it up at some point, but I don't think canon really supports the idea.
Thank you, dear!

I think there's general consensus among many Ten/Rose fans that in the early eps of S2 she doesn't remember having the Vortex in her nor how it was removed. Around The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit, it's more of a mixed opinion. Some say Rose definitely knew what she had been in Parting of the Ways in those episodes, meaning she either remembered on her own or Ten told her enough to know generally what happened with the Daleks and the events leading to Nine's regeneration. Others say she knows around Doomsday. Of course by using Bad Wolf in Turn Left, I, personally, think it's clear by that point that she knows about Bad Wolf and taking in the Time Vortex. Whether she remembers specifics is again up for debate. If Ten did tell her, then it's more than likely he left out some stuff, like her turning Jack Immortal (as evidenced by his conversation with Jack through the door of that Red Room in Utopia) and perhaps that kiss, so as to not make her feel guilty about what happened to Jack and Nine as a result.
Like I said, whether anything was even brought up is up for debate among a lot of Ten/Rose fans. But given Ten's methods of avoidance and Rose's penchant in S2 to follow his lead on those things, probably not.
And your welcome!

The only thing I'd say is that there's somewhere where you say 'must of' - I'd use 'must've' instead--
*throttles inner grammar nazi*
Anyway, apart from that very tiny thing it was awesome :D

I love Ten/Rose, and I'm all for anything shippy between them, but this was just lovely. I love that Rose is still unsure of the Doctor, and can't help but think of Nine & Ten as two completely different people, even though she knows it's the same person (you know what I mean!)...that's so great!
And...I'd like to see the fic when she DOES get around to talking to Ten about it! :)
