Notes/Warning: Spoilers for The Runaway Bride. Written for the second Weekly Drabble Challenge with the prompt of 'protection'.
Why do humans always need protection?
It’s a question that’s puzzled him ever since he started travelling with them.
No matter where they go or what they do, they always seem to get into trouble.
And much as he might love showing them the wonders of the Universe, they do seem remarkably unsuited to life on other planets. It’s always too hot, or too cold, or too wet or too something!
Quite frankly, he wonders half the time why he even bothers.
But, as he slides a thin, gold band onto a cool, slender finger and looks up into a pair of brilliant blue eyes, no longer glaring at him, but instead fixed on him with a gentle, almost sympathetic, gaze and a lovely smile, her other hand clutching at the brown fabric of his jacket, he decides he doesn’t really mind after all.
