Rating: G
Characters: Donna and the Doctor
Disclaimer: Still wishing and hoping they might be mine, but to no avail.
Spoilers: Everything up to the end of Season 4.
Summary: Donna has news for the Doctor...
Chapter II
He spends far longer in Elizabeth’s room than he should. Donna has taken to teasing him that the lack of running means he’s going to develop a spare tyre around his middle, but he can’t stay away from their one-month-old daughter.
They’ve taken to counting her age in Earth measurements so Wilf and Sylvia don’t feel left out.
He thinks Sylvia’s almost forgiven him for turning her daughter into an alien.
Almost.
Of course, Elizabeth helped.
He could almost see Sylvia melt when they placed her granddaughter into her arms. Interestingly, though, it was Sylvia who’d pointed out several intriguing features about baby Elizabeth.
“She looks nothing like you,” she’d said bluntly, turning to the Doctor, and he wasn’t sure there wasn’t relief in her eyes.
“She looks like her mother,” had been his less-than-clever comeback.
“No. Well, not really.” Sylvia had looked at Donna and then back at Elizabeth. “Hair and eyes, yes. But that’s all. I mean, where does she get this chin from?”
“Ooh.” The Doctor suddenly realises what she means and drops into a chair, thinking that this news isn’t going to go down well. “Ah. Yes. We-ell, you see, it’s a little thing called regeneration.”
Donna had stared at her daughter for a minute before turning to him. “I never realised,” she’d said slowly.
“Nor me,” he’d admitted. “That’s my first chin. First ears. First mouth. All first me.”
And Donna had stared at him for a moment before smirking. “Could be an improvement.”
“Hey!”

Am in LOVE with this fic, I think you're making my maternal instinct (which has been compared to a stick) raise its head.
