So it's been a while since I posted anything that wasn't a Doctor Who fic. I thought it was time for an update on my life.

Europe Trip
As the more attentive of you may have realised, I am off to Europe on Sunday. I will be spending a week in England and then another in Berlin. I have finally got my act together and did most of my packing last week, enough to realise that my case is going to hold everything comfortably and probably won't even get to 15 kgs let alone the 25 I'm allowed to have, so yay me! This gives me more space and weight for buying things to bring home.

The reason for the trip is a three-day conference about witnessing of traumatic events. Yes, it will be miserable and gloomy, but also very, very interesting. And it gives me an excuse to be in Europe, so frankly, who cares? *lol*

Thesis
The thesis is actually going surprisingly well, except for the fact that my supervisor forgot that we had a meeting today so I really went into the city for no reason. Still, it gave a chance to return library books and also buy several things I wanted (see section 'Doctor Who').

Work
I am still putting up with my job, but I'm not sure for how much longer. Our temps are leaving at the end of June which means we will have to do front counter stuff as well as our normal work. Our boss thinks we are kicking up a fuss about this because we're afraid. After all, he sat at the front counter for five minutes and answered two phone calls, which he just had to send on to other people. So it can't be difficult!

I've applied for a job doing the same thing closer to home, but it's full time and only for 12 months, so I will see if they are open to negotiation (on the full-time part, not the contract bit, as it's a maternity leave position) but I am also still scouting around for museum jobs. I shall even ask questions when I'm in Europe and see if there's anything on the horizon.

Dancing
I have yet another new teacher. His name is Nick and he's a ballroom and latin specialist, so gives me lots of new ways to do things that I know is improving my dancing. He's also completely and utterly bonkers, so lessons are even more fun than they used to be. Rather scarily, I have my dance exam on Thursday night, but I know all my steps so I'm sure it will be fine. *crosses fingers*

Theatre
Several weeks ago I went to see Avenue Q and loved it so much that I have decided to go again before I go away (in case it does leave Melbourne on July 12, as they are threatening, as I will still be in Europe on that date). This is definitely so much fun and I can't wait to see it again.

I'm also going to see Mandy Patinkin in concert on July 21 so that will be glorious with lots of musicals bits and pieces!

Finally I'm going on the closing night of Wicked in Melbourne before it heads off to Sydney. I've got a great seat in the stalls for August 9 and I shall justify the cost of this by not going in for the raffle, as I'd planned to do several more times.

Doctor Who
First, my muse hasn't deserted me. It's just been shoved aside by all of the things listed above. I'm working sporadically on both Clare's proper present (hopefully it will be done before we see each other!) and my companion piece to Friends or Strangers. A new plot bunny made itself known on the train today, but as it's already visited me several times over the past few months with similar ideas, I don't think there's any urgency.

In other fannish, geeky news, over the past few days I have been drooling over things on eBay that I would like but cannot really afford. However today I went into a shop for sci-fi geeks and TV show addicts called Minotaur and found two of the things I really wanted, and at least one of which is both practical and necessary as my USB hub is dying. Thus I am now the proud owner of this

TARDIS USB port

and this

Doctor and Donna

Yay because these are two things I now don't have to bring home! Woo hoo!

All I really want now is a plush Adipose toy. Preferably for less than $40...

So, yes, still quite a lot going on.
