The road less travelled...

I can't get onto the net at home again, so I'm in a cafe. I will be leaving my nice little room tomorrow and going to a hotel, as various cleaning issues make it impossible for me to get to the airport from the student home. Anyway, a report on Les Mis, for those who are interested:

Last night, like the other shows, had good bits and bad bits. I haven't had a show where I could say 'that was the best!' but they've all been awesome.

I had an an alternate Jean Valjean, who I think I actually prefer, as he seems more personable, although the main actor does have a better voice.

We had the proper Thenardier and Madame Thenadier,who made me realise just how weak the others had been. They were hilarious, with massive voices and massive personalities to match. Fantastic to watch!

The proper Enjolras was back from an extended sick-leave. I don't think his voice was as strong as some of the stand-ins, but he had a pretty awesome stage presence. Still, my preference is for Enjolras to have dark hair.

Unfortunately, we also had a stand-in Marius, who was weak and looked like a puppy who had been kicked on numerous occasions. He didn't even look happy during the wedding!

The usual cast was fantastic, particularly Javert! They also had some great kids.

*sad sigh* I wish I could justify going again tonight..
