Yes, I know, it's the middle of the summer holidays and I'm studying. Serves me right for doing a two-year degree. *bangs head on desk*

Anyway, I feel it's time to gripe about the library at Monash. I was at Monash yesterday to see my supervisor about getting introductory letters for Germany (which is less than a month away!!!!). Good meeting, actually, considering it was Helmut and we tend to have the occasional personality clash. Then I logged on to check my email and thought I'd see how many library books I have out. Turns out I have 29 (which is fine - the limit is 30) but that 10 of them were overdue.

This means I was banned from borrowing.

My complaint about this is that the library sends people reminder emails three days before the books are due. Apparently, though, they don't have the automated system set up over the holidays. So I have $5 in fines (50 cents per book, per day - I can add!) and am a little bitter. Just a little bit...

ETA: Oh, yes, and I've just found out that I now have $30 in fines, which means I'm still banned until I pay it off. Stupid bloody red tape!!!!

I've had some spare time tonight, so I thought it was time I shared some sites that have amused me lately or had me wondering at the state of the world:

Okay, so it's in bad taste, but it's also very funny! In the words of the site itself: "Taliban Reunited is the simple way to find out what your old terrorist chums and captives are doing now." http://www.talibanreunited.com/

Is this really necessary? Are we so inept in Australia? (It's a rhetorical question, folks!) http://apnews.excite.com/article/20040106/D7VTC2UG0.html

Suddenly I'm not so keen on my trip anymore...: http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml;?type=oddlyEnoughNews&storyID=4080610

And finally, because I just can't believe anyone, even Britney Spears, is stupid enough to marry and need to annul it that fast, I could only shake my head at this list: http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGAJ4BUL3PD.html
