A bit of a mish-mash of a day today. I had thought that one of the libraries I want to visit was a few blocks away, but a second check showed that it is in Potsdam, one of the very far-flung suburbs of Berlin. Another library is in a completely opposite direction from the others I needed to visit today.
Giving up on those, I went to my old University and got a reading card there. I was also able to remember the location of and visit a library, only to be told that they would be no help at all! At least they gave me a little book that has every library in Berlin (come to think of it, it's not that little) and so I now have a whole new selection to visit.
I went to a bookshop this morning and came within an iota of buying Bridget Jones's Diaries after enjoying the film so much. In the end, though, I decided to save my 20 Euro (for each book) on more important things - like food. I did, however, pick up a couple of thesis-related books for next to nothing, so that was excellent. I also saw a book about the Rosenstrasse film, which has come out here and which I am going to see on Saturday. I didn't buy it in case I couldn't stand the film. There is a section about the history of the protest, but it cites all the books I have already found, so yay me!
This afternoon I went to get a new battery for my watch and found a table of books outside one of the many antique shops near the Wohnheim. On this table lay two books that I snatched up and paid 1 Euro for them both - the two Bridget Jones diary! *lol*
I also got a Wodehouse (the first few Jeeves stories) and some tourist guides of Berlin. All in all, an excellent day!
